Explanation of the end of Loch Henry
After arriving at Loch Henry for a quick visit with Davis’s mother, Janet, Pia learns from him and Stuart, the son of Mr. King, the last pub owner in town, of the atrocities committed by Iain Adair. , which ultimately led to the death of Davis’s father, Kenneth, and the decline of the town.
Pia convinces Davis to make a documentary on Iain Adair, to which he is initially reluctant but agrees. They enlist the help of Stuart, who is convinced that if the documentary is successful it will bring tourism back to the city. Stuart provides them with a trove of archived newspapers and news recordings that his mother had kept. He also provides them with a drone to capture the beauty of the Loch Henry countryside. However, his father strongly disapproves of the documentary.

The pair begin making the documentary, using Stuart’s mother’s box of curiosities, but the pair are approached by Janet and find out about the documentary. Amazingly, Janet supports the documentary and even films her own interview. After trying to present Iain Adair’s document to Historik, a documentary producer, they are asked to take new footage and a good angle.
Together, Pia, Davis and Stuart break into Iain Adair’s house and find the dungeon where all the torture and murders took place. To make the experience more dramatic, Davis uses her father’s old VCR, where they discover that a tape of Bergerac, her parents’ favorite detective series, was still inside. However, they ignore this and start recording over the previous recording. Upon reaching the dungeon, the black light torches used reveal the extent of the horror that took place within. On the way back from the farm, Davis accidentally runs into a tractor, but the three drive away with little to no injury, except that Davis must spend the night in the hospital.

Pia goes home with Janet and begins digitizing the footage from that day’s recording. The recording runs out and Pia discovers the shocking new revelation. Ian Adair had not worked alone. He was aided by Kenneth and Janet, Davis’s parents, who were using Iain and his home to carry out sexual torture and murder. Pia, horrified by what she has learned, cannot keep her cool, so she tries to find her way back to the city, however, Janet realizes that Pia knows the truth about her and tries to stop her. .
Pia can easily get away from Janet and tries to cross the river in the dark. In a tragic twist of fate, she slips, hits her head on a rock, and is knocked unconscious. Face down, and unconscious, Pia is carried away by the river’s current. Meanwhile, back at the hospital, Mr. King, whose previous injury landed him in the hospital, leaves his bedside to find Davis and reveal the shocking truth. As for Janet, who knows it is the beginning of the end, he returns home and retrieves all the evidence of her and Kenneth’s crimes on the kitchen table, before killing himself.
Cut to an unspecified time period later, and a trailer for the documentary is released, featuring Davis and Mr. King. We learn that Mr King was suspicious of Janet and Kenneth’s relationship with Iain Adair after witnessing her behavior on a night where she got drunk and engaged in sexual acts with the married couple. As for Davis, he struggled to behave in his interview, which caused him to cry. We also learn that Kenneth murdered Iain and his family before shooting and injuring himself. Ironically, this is what led to his death.

At the BAFTAS, Loch Henry: Truth Will Out wins the award for Factual Series, where Historik Productions producer Kate Cezar accepts the award on behalf of everyone involved in the production. In her speech, Kate dedicated the award to Pia, who drowned, and to Davis.
At the after party, an actress approaches Davis and compliments him on the documentary, however it is Kate who accepts the compliment. Davis draws a blank when Kate begins to argue with the actress they are currently casting for an adaptation of the events at Loch Henry.
Back in his hotel room, Davis receives a phone call from Stuart, who is delighted with the documentary’s victory and the tourism it has brought back to town. Meanwhile, Davis, left traumatized by the truth, is sitting with the note written by his mother, looking at his BAFTA, wondering if the truth really paid off in the end.
Davis did not direct the Loch Henry: the truth will come out documentary film
After Davis discovered the truth about his parents and their involvement in the murder and torture of Iain Adair’s victims, Historik Productions cannibalized Davis and Pia’s documentary.
At the BAFTAs, Kate Cezar, Clara Ryce and Ted Bellingham are listed as the recipients of the award for Factual Series. This is because they would have been credited as executive producers of the documentary. As for Davis, he would have been given producer credit for the work he and Pia had already done on their documentary before Historik took over.
Other evidence that Davis was a passenger in the making of the documentary is found at the after party when the unnamed actress congratulates him, only for Kate to take the credit.

Why didn’t Janet destroy the evidence?
Janet didn’t know that Pia had hurt herself trying to cross the river. Since she believed that Pia had run away from her, it was the beginning of the end, as she Pia would reveal the truth to Davis and, with little or no chance of escape, she would spend the last years of her life behind bars. .
The least she could do was not lie to her son anymore and reveal the shocking and heartbreaking truth. She had the insight to know that the evidence in her possession would make an incredible documentary and could boost her son’s career.
Sadly, all he did was bring pain to his son, who became a passenger in his own story told by someone else using the job that ultimately led to his girlfriend’s death.
It was worth it?
Watching the BAFTA that cost his girlfriend and mother his life, the happy memories of his parents that now stain his childhood leave him wondering if success was really worth it in the end.
