After finding great success in the romance television space with sweet magnolias, firefly laneand virgin riverNetflix is expanding further into the space with rescue cannon.
The project was first referenced in an interview with Netflix drama head Jinny Howe in August 2022, where she was cited as one of the big bets Netflix had on their upcoming lineup.
In the interview, Howe said: “It’s a multi-generational family show set on a ranch, and we say Virgin River meets Yellowstone. We think it’s going to deliver all the romance and again it’s going to be a really beautiful sight and setting, very escapist. It’s in early stages of development, but we’re very excited about it; It feels very promising.»

What’s on Netflix can reveal that Netflix has been developing the project since at least September 2021, when it optioned the book’s 11 entries through its Ice Cream Fridge unit.
Which are the rescue cannon books about?
As mentioned, Netflix has opted for the the entire Ransom Canyon library book series, which were released between 2015 and 2019 and includes:

We’re told the Netflix adaptation will take place on a ranch in New Mexico.
Jodi Thomas is behind the series and has over 100 book credits to his name, all while being a New York Times bestseller. His new book series begins in April 2023 with strawberry lane described as a «heartwarming new series that is the epitome of comfort reading.»

Who’s behind rescue cannon for netflix?
So far, we know dan angel is serving as a producer on the project through his banner Angel Family Entertainment, Inc.
Active in Hollywood since the mid-1980s, the producer recently worked on the Netflix series Rescued by Ruby but it is best known by titles like Goosebumps, X-Files, gifted hands, and Door to door.
Other projects Angel has in development at the time of publication include Out of my mind for Disney+, if i run and in 27 days Sony and Julie of the Wolves for Warner Bros.
At the end of May 2023, The times interviewed several writers during the strike and revealed that Laura Nava I was typing in the program. Previous credits include all american, Doll’s House, and dixie deer.
When will production start in rescue cannon?
According to ProductionWeekly Issue 1354, the series is currently due to start filming on September 12 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
It is likely to be filmed in Albuquerque Studiosowned by Netflix as of October 2018 with the complex under expansion.
