For those in the United States, you may remember that the first movie appeared on Netflix in the first window last time. That was because Netflix entered into a first-window deal for all of Sony’s animation output during that period. The film was available for 18 months, between June 2019 and December 2020.
Some Netflix regions are streaming the first movie ahead of the new entry hitting theaters, including Canada, Israel, India, and a Select some European countries.
When Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse release on Netflix in the US?
As we covered in 2021, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will head to Netflix as the service gets both animation and live-action content from Sony via a first-window deal struck in April 2021.
The agreement stipulates that all Sony feature films arrive on Netflix in the first window, which is at least 120 days after their release date. If it arrives exactly 120 days later, it will air from September 30, 2023.
That being said, given how big this movie is, we may see it released a few weeks after the fact. Either way, we expect the movie to be available between the end of September and November 2023.
Will other Netflix regions be streaming? Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse?
Yes, but unlike in the United States, it will differ from region to region and there are currently no published schedules.
Sony Animation movies tend to hit Netflix worldwide in the years after they’re released in theaters. Some regions like Canada and the UK have to wait 2-3 years for the movies to arrive while others will have to wait longer.
In any case, only Netflix India is expected to receive the film along with the United States, with everyone else waiting a few years.
