freeridge is one of the first major comedy releases on Netflix of 2023, but how well is it doing? What can we expect from a second season? Will you get one? This is what we know so far about freeridge season 2.
Serving as a spin-off for on my block, freeridge it shares the exact location as the mothership series, but notably features an entirely new cast. The show follows four teenagers who work to reverse a curse after a peculiar old box appears to bring misfortune. The show takes place in September after season 4 of on my block ending in May.
Until now, freeridge has collected good reviews from critics with an 86% on RottenTomatoes, with The Daily Beast praising him as a «female-led comedy». At the same time, the hollywood reporter he concluded that Freeridge is a «lighter show than its predecessor», but said that it «shares the same empathetic heart» and «playful sense of humour».
The show hasn’t performed that well with audiences, only having a 5.9 on IMDb and 61% on RT.

Things are not looking very good for freeridge. Based on the initial statistics (more on that below), it’s hard to see how the show survives on those metrics alone. With that being said, could Netflix lower the bar, given that the show meets particular demographic targets? We’ll have to wait and see.
We’ve covered before how Netflix decides to renew or cancel its lineup of shows which looks at many metrics including (but not limited to) completion rates, headlines, and title cost.
Series co-creator Jeremy Haft was optimistic about the future of the show while speaking to TVLine, saying:
“The world of Freeridge is very rich and vibrant, and there are tons of stories to tell. We have always had a small grain of hope: [co-creator] Lauren Jüngerich, [executive producer] Jamie Dooner Eddie [Gonzalez] and me, I always hoped that we would continue the Freeridge stories. Thankfully, and with a lot of gratitude, we thank Netflix for allowing us to continue telling those stories. More to come.»

One minor issue aside, the way Netflix handled the name of this series is a bit confusing.
Although we don’t know for sure, we suspect that if the program is/was having problems, it may be renamed to On my block: Freeridge (which some of the series’ visual assets already indicate). We saw a similar strategy employed to The bastard son and the devil himselfthat it got mean bad attached a few weeks after his execution. In that case, however, it was too late to save him.
that’s good freeridge acting on netflix?
On the bright side, it appeared in the top 10 per hour. That said, its debut was one of the worst Netflix original series debuts we’ve seen in quite some time, with just 8.27 million hours watched between January 29 and February 5, 2023.

Since the program has a shorter execution time, could that be part of the problem?
Well, based on CVE (Complete Views Equivalent: Divide Netflix’s advertised hours watched by the series’ runtime) viewership data, the show had a very weak debut.

So not a good start in the global top 10 per hour, but how well is the show doing in individual regions?
Flix Patrol measures the top 10 dailies in nearly 90 countries around the world and they don’t paint a pretty picture so far either.
According to his data, only 13 countries have seen Freeridge appear in the top 10, and in many of those countries, he only appeared for a single day. As the charts below show, the show only became the 15th most popular show on Netflix, and its best performance has been in the United States, South Africa, and some of the Caribbean islands.

Finally, we will see the external statistics of the series.
TelevisionStats.com, often referred to as the lawsuit, claims that the show peaked online as the world’s 36th biggest show on February 3, 2023, but has since declined sharply. Its data sources are information from Wikipedia, IMDb, Google Trends, Reddit and more.
The end of freeridge Did season 1 set up a season 2?
Actually on my block fashion, freeridge It ends with a big cliffhanger. The series concludes with episode 8, where the gang discovers that the curse they have been suffering from comes from Abuelita’s long-lost sister, Mariluna.
Mariluna gives the gang a task to spend a certain amount of money in a fixed period of time with nothing to show for it, then they would walk away with even more money.
While they accepted the challenge, things took a turn for the worse when Mariluna was shot. The two Santos gang shooters accidentally mistook Mariluna for Marisol while looking for the Roller World money that Marisol and Jamal found in On My Block before her death.
The series concludes with the taking of Mariluna and the credits rolling.
