Hospitals in Syria are overwhelmed, after three years of civil war.

At least 12 children have died and dozens are sick after the supply of contaminated measles vaccines in a rebel-held area in Syria.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the inoculations were carried out in rural areas of northern Syria.

Diseases like measles and polio have spread since civil conflict broke out in 2011.

The Syrian National Coalition, one of the main opposition arms, said it will halt the measles vaccination program after the deaths.
