The XFL matchup between the DC Defenders and the Houston Roughnecks on Monday night featured a bizarre penalty that even left the referee a little flummoxed.
In the third quarter with DC leading Houston 23-8, the down judge approached the umpire and explained that defensive back Ajene Harris had been given a penalty for spraying water on the umpire.

«Unsportsmanlike conduct, defense, No. 3. Throwing a water bottle at the downed umpire,» the referee announced to the crowd.
