Sony’s biopic about famed singer Whitney Houston hit theaters during the 2022 holiday season and we now have confirmation that it’s coming to Netflix US in late April 2023. Here’s when we expect I want to dance with someone to address the streamer where you live.
Written by Anthony McCarten and directed by Kasi Lemmons, this new biopic hopes to follow in the successful footsteps of Bohemian Rhapsody and rocket man in reviving Whitney Houston’s music career.
I want to dance with someone stars Naomi Ackie, Stanley Tucci, Ashton Sanders, Tamara Tunie, Nafessa Williams, and Clarke Peters.
The film begins its theatrical run on December 23 and was produced on a budget of $45 million. Debuted at mostly mixed reviewswith IGN saying is «yet yet another musical biopic that feels like an event checklist rather than a riveting drama.»
When I want to dance with someone be on Netflix in the US?
Through a first window deal, Netflix arrived in 2021 and starting in 2022, all Sony Pictures movies head to Netflix (except for some of the subsidiary productions) for the 18 months that make up the first window.
This first window comes after the theatrical window has finished. That has ranged from 120 days to 156 days based on every movie that has been released so far, including movies like Unexplored, father stu, Bullet train, and others.
In this case, we predicted that Netflix in the United States would receive I want to dance with someone will head into service on April 22, 2023 at the earliest.
Fortunately, we now have confirmation that the film will be released on Netflix US on April 22, 2023, as predicted.

Some of the other Sony Pictures movies coming to Netflix in 2023 include the king woman, Devotion, and Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile.
Once the movie hits Netflix, it will be available for 18 months, coming out at the end of October 2024.
Will international regions get Netflix I want to dance with someone?
The likely answer is yes for most countries, although we don’t have firm dates.
Netflix India, like the US, constantly receives new movies from Sony 120 days after launch, but it was added even earlier in the case of I want to dance with someone. Netflix India received the film on February 28, 2023.
Netflix Canada and the UK receive movies from Sony 2 years after their theatrical release. This also applies to regions such as Belgium, Greece, Japan, Poland, Spain, Sweden, and South Africa.
That would mean that Netflix in these regions will see I want to dance with someone added sometime in 2024/25.
