Liam Hendriks picks up right where he left off.

Hendriks announced on January 8 that he had been diagnosed with the disease, but it was less than three months later that he rang a hospital bell to celebrate the end of chemotherapy.
On April 20, he told his fans that he was «cancer free.»
«REMISSION,» Hendriks wrote in a instagram mail that he had videos and photos of him going through his treatment. «It’s official. I’m cancer free.»

«You never think you’ll be the one to hear ‘you have cancer’ but there I was…in shock and fear not knowing what comes next,» she wrote on Instagram. «I started treatment after MANY life-changing appointments on January 9, 2023. It’s been tough for the White Sox thus far, as they’re just 7-20. But when Hendriks returns, the South Siders will get one of the most dominant relievers in baseball.
Hendriks has made the trip to each of the last three All-Star Games. (There were none in 2020.) Since the start of the 2019 season, he has pitched with a 2.26 ERA while striking out 13.5 batters over nine innings and posting a 0.88 WHIP.

Hendriks remains on the 15-day disabled list, but those 15 days are up, so it’s likely Hendriks will start a rehab assignment soon and be at the big league club sooner rather than later.
