new amsterdam it currently dominates the top 10 Netflix charts in the United States, with seasons 1-4 currently airing in the United States. A fifth season recently finished airing on NBC, but will it be heading to Netflix?
For those who do not know, new amsterdam is the NBC medical drama that follows Dr. Max Goodwin, played by Ryan Eggold, who tries to save one of the oldest public hospitals while dealing with his own relationships and personal struggles.
Here is the rundown as a quick rundown of New Amsterdam trajectory on Netflix so far.
- Seasons 1 and 2 were announced to be heading to Netflix in January 2023 in December 2022. Those two seasons dropped on January 1, 2023.
- Then on February 1, 2023, Netflix US licensed the show’s third and fourth seasons.
That brings us to season 5 of new amsterdam. Broadcast between September 20, 2022 and January 17, 2023, the final season of new amsterdam it notably consisted of fewer episodes than the fourth season.
Unfortunately, we I don’t have a Netflix release date for season 5 of new amsterdam. Unlike previous seasons, we expect the show to have some exclusivity on its main platform to boost viewership and subscribers there.
The previous seasons haven’t been licensed in any particular pattern, so it will probably only come down to when NBC Universal and Netflix can come to a new deal. If we were to guess, we’ll see the final season added to Netflix over the next year or so.
Where to watch New Amsterdam season 5 before it hits Netflix
There’s only one real alternative to watching the fifth and final season of New Amsterdam before/if it heads to Netflix in the US, and that’s via Peacock.
All five seasons can be found on Peacock but beware, unlike Netflix, where the series is available at the advertising level, it is only available at the premium level of Peacock.
Will there be more seasons of New Amsterdam on Netflix internationally?
What if you live outside of the United States? For most regions, that means you only have access to the first two seasons and there’s no indication that more seasons, including Season 5, will be available for your service.
Instead, as we reported a bit earlier this month, we’re seeing new amsterdam it currently displays takedown notices for everyone outside of the United States. If you’re in Canada or Australia, you’re currently set to watch seasons 1 and 2 drop on Netflix in mid-February 2023.
Unlike the international regions, we have learned that Netflix US will keep all four seasons of new amsterdam until January 2025 from the time of publication.
