The United States and England will meet at the World Cup on Friday in one of the most anticipated matches of the tournament.
The two men’s soccer teams are fighting to reach the knockout stage of Group B. England and the USA are the favorites to do so, but the first round of group stage matches didn’t turn out exactly as the Americans had hoped.
Against Wales, Tim Weah got things started on the right foot early for the US but the team seemed to take their foot off the gas. A Gareth Bale goal from a penalty late in the second half tied the game for Wales and helped earn a point in the equaliser.

England finished fourth in the 2018 World Cup, marking their best tournament since finishing fourth in 1990. England failed to make it out of the group stage in 2014. The team won a World Cup title, in 1966.

The USA got a goal in the 38th minute from Joe Gaetjens, and Frank Borghi stopped England for the shutout. It would be the USA’s only win in the group stage, and they failed to top it.
England drew the USA, 1-1, at the 2010 World Cup and knocked them out in a 2018 friendly.
