Trevor Bauer’s signature punch celebration is causing a stir with a teammate on his Japanese team, the Yokohama DeNA BayStars.

When Bauer has struck out hitters in the MLB, he has been seen doing a move where he appears to put a sword in a scabbard. He has also done it in his overseas games so far.

Well, ahead of his first NPB start scheduled for Wednesday, the BayStars posted a short video of Bauer encouraging fans to do the same when he strikes out batters during his starts, and Yokohama closer Yasuaki Yamasaki isn’t. fanatic.

He responded below the tweet from the official BayStars Twitter page.

«Don’t be an idiot. That’s disrespectful. There are better ways to do this,» the tweet translated.

Bauer signed a one-year contract with Yokohama after the Los Angeles Dodgers designated him for assignment after serving a suspension for sexual assault allegations.

Despite being shunned by Major League Baseball, fans were seen wearing his BayStars jersey in his first minor league start.

He has made two starts since then, when he stepped up in what is considered his spring training before entering a professional game. He owns a 2.25 ERA in 16 innings with 14 hits allowed and four earned runs.

Bauer also hasn’t allowed a home run.

«It’s just about increasing the number of pitches right now, making sure I can throw a full game if I have to,» Bauer said after his first start.

Bauer has been adamant that all actions with his accuser were consensual and he is innocent.

The Dodgers issued a statement on Bauer after his release.

«Two lengthy reviews of all the available evidence in this case, one by [MLB] Notary [Rob] Manfred and another by a neutral referee, concluded that Mr. Bauer’s actions warranted the longest active suspension in our sport for violations of this policy. Now that this process has been completed, and after careful consideration, we have decided that he will no longer be a part of our organization,» the team said in a statement in February.

Bauer received a 324-game suspension, the equivalent of two full seasons, later reduced to 194.

BayStars manager Daisuke Miura has announced that Bauer will start the club’s Central League game against Hiroshima Carp on Wednesday.
