Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski traded barbs again like old times on Monday’s episode of «Let’s Go!» podcast with sportscaster Jim Gray before the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Brady told Gray he was looking forward to having Gronkowski in the program after the tight end spent the entire 2022 regular season retired. He said he would rather have Gronkowski on the field playing him at Raymond James Stadium against the Cowboys.

«As much as I love having him on the show, I’d rather have him on the field with me,» Brady said. «So, I’m a little mad at him because he’s on the show with me on a Monday morning and not on the field with me Monday night. But I’ll get over it.»

Brady said there have been multiple attempts since March to bring Gronkowski back to the Buccaneers. The tight end told Fox News Digital last week that his mindset just wasn’t there to play football again.

When Gronkowski joined the show, Brady wondered if there was enough time to take Gronkowski to Tampa for a physical and to get dressed.

«If I get there and I’m ready to play tonight, I’ll skip the physical first,» the former Buccaneers and New England Patriots star said. «I’ll just flex. I’ll walk into the room and say, ‘You like those guns?’ And they’ll say, ‘Yes, I do. I passed the physical.’ Just check, I’m good to go. And if I had to get dressed, I’ve been running around for a bit. Nothing crazy. I haven’t run any soccer routes at all. I haven’t caught a football How many plays do you think you could get out of me tonight if I showed up, put on the pads and played tonight?

Brady said he thought he could get about 20 snaps out of Gronkowski if he actually played.

«I think I could do that too. I think I could do it, around 15 to 20. I mean, the speed on the ball, you have to relax a little bit because every time I come back and that first the pass that you always throw at me seems like it’s like 200 mph, I’m still not used to it,» he said. «So, that first pass, oh, we’ll get him out of the way in warmups. So, I’ll do like three warmups so I don’t burn out. And then about 15 to 20 plays. I think I can do it.»

Brady said he believed Gronkowski could do it.

«You’re a natural, it’s like riding a bike for you,» he said. «And I remember the moments where we haven’t pitched for a while and then all of a sudden we show up together and it’s like, boom, we’re hitting full steam ahead. So it literally takes no time because you’re actually an amazing athlete and you’re a natural soccer player, so it doesn’t take much for you to be ready.»

Gronkowski retired from the NFL after the 2021 season.

He told Fox News Digital that he ignored text messages and calls from people urging him to play.

«I know, man. I just ignore them,» he said. «I laugh, you know. I send some funny things, but it’s also very humiliating. It’s great to be in that situation and think about where they still want you. Usually in the NFL, you get chewed up and kicked out right away, you get spit out and they spit and so it’s great to be in that situation.

«I would say it’s just one of the few that have teams that call, and you get to go back and play in the NFL. So, it’s definitely a humbling experience. But the mentality just isn’t there. And I just enjoy my time off. «. and very happy where I am».
