The religious organization Catholics for Catholics, which previously described the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence as «godless» and «mocking Christ,» planned to travel to Dodger Stadium on Friday to protest the Dodgers’ decision to recognize the group. of charity.
Earlier this week, Catholics for Catholics announced their intention to hold a four-hour «prayer procession» in the hours leading up to Friday’s game.

The Sisters will receive the Community Hero Award during a pregame ceremony as part of Dodgers Pride Night.
An article posted on the official Catholics for Catholics website noted that everyone was «welcome to join» the protest.

Social media videos posted several hours before the game began showed what appeared to be thousands of people outside Dodger Stadium with flags and signs. The group also turned up to pray.
Earlier this week, the Sisters said they had no problem with groups that decided to express themselves through protests.
«After 27 years of activism and protests, including those fighting Prop 8 for our right to marry the ones we love, we certainly can’t complain about our fellow Angelenos expressing their First Amendment rights,» the Sisters said in a statement sent to the Los Angeles Times.

Anyone interested in attending Thursday’s protest has been instructed in advance to gather in a parking lot near Dodger Stadium.
It is unclear if the group will march around the stadium or if they plan to enter the stadium and cause disruption.

The Dodgers did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the impact the protesters in the parking lot are having on fans attending tonight’s game.
