Sultan Al NejadiUnited Arab Emirates astronaut, has made history this Friday by becoming the arabic primer on walking through space on a mission to the International Space Station (ISS). The walk began at 5:11 p.m. and lasted thirty minutes, in which Sultan, who is on the longest Arab space mission in history, has been accompanied by NASA astronaut Stephen Bowen, as reported by the Emirati newspaper ‘Gulf News’.

This achievement has made the UAE the tenth country in the world to conduct a spacewalk outside the ISS.

A few hours before going out into the void, the astronaut wrote on his Twitter account that he was ready to «write a new story for the Arabs» to which he added that «with the space suit and the flag of the United Arab Emirates on his arm I am proud to soon embark on the Arab world’s first spacewalk.
