«We have reached a decision that weighs and compensates for the decisions of those who were interested in this situation. The passengers are not abandoned and are part of the ‘Government of Change’, in this sense it allows all those who were affected to be protected. Competition is allowing spaces for airlines other than the integrated entity to operate and have access to El Dorado Airport and, finally, for the integration that allows a sustainability for the return to the Viva Air market«said Paris.

He also referred to the conditions that changed for him to realize integration, this is how he affirms that «what changed the most were the slots, that is, the strips of track use. By giving it a new order, a new space is guaranteed for Viva’s return to operations, but effective competition is also allowed for airlines that offer flights to other destinations.»

The director of Civil Aeronautics also hid that Viva Air will stick with its ‘low cost’ model through an operation that makes this airline more economical and updated that must be stabilized for three years.

Viva and Avianca airlines.

In addition, Paris commented on what would be the step to follow with the decision:

«Now the negotiation process is between Viva Air and Avianca, they they must announce on Saturday that they accept the conditions and then they have a deadline to establish a series of plans and programs, among which the most important is the user protection plan, clearly, in a gradual and progressive way for Viva to operate”, said París.

Similarly, he announced for this program that the capacity of the El Dorado Airport was expanded for the next season.

«What we are doing is that after the pandemic the capacity of El Dorado was reduced and, due to its own conditions, the capacity was reduced, since it had 69 operations and now we are going to increase it to 74 operations which is how El Dorado had been operating before the pandemic,” said the director of Aeronautics.

He added that together with Andi they will have a program to increase platforms and parking areas for quick access and exit that will allow more operations to increase per hour and will ensure that four more airlines will join those in Colombia: JetSmart, Estelar, Satena and Laser. This to increase connectivity to Venezuela, Ecuador and Europe.
