During sporting events, team Twitter accounts will send live updates and game highlights.
However, that will not be the case for the San Jose Sharks on Saturday night.
The team is hosting Pride Night at the SAP Center against the New York Islanders, but attendees won’t be the only ones watching their celebration.

The Sharks tweeted Saturday that they will «offer information and facts on LGBTQIA+ issues» instead of «our normal in-game content» during Saturday’s contest.
«Our hope is that this content serves as a reminder that there are more important things than goals, highlights and wins,» the team said in its tweet.
«Hockey is not for everyone until everyone is comfortable playing, working or being a fan of this amazing game.»
The NHL has come under fire in recent months, as two teams and one individual player refrained from wearing pride-themed jerseys during warmups.
Ivan Provorov of the Philadelphia Flyers cited his Russian Orthodox religion as a reason for not participating in his team’s Gay Pride Night warm-ups. The rest of the team wore LGBTQ-themed uniforms.
The New York Rangers promoted their Pride Night in January, saying players would wrap pride-themed ribbons on the clubs, but that plan too was shot down without explanation. The same thing happened with the Minnesota Wild earlier this month.

The Sharks are 19-36-14, and their 52 points are second lowest in the league.
