Sweet tooth Season 3 has now been officially confirmed and the new season has been secretly filmed in late 2022 and early 2023. Here’s everything you need to know about the final season of the show coming soon to Netflix.
First debuting on Netflix in 2021, Sweet Tooth is DC’s series adaptation of Jeff Lemire’s popular comic book series that was destined for Hulu at one point. Season 2 of the show landed on Netflix globally on April 27, 2023.

Just a few days after the second season debuted on Netflix, the streamer confirmed that season 3 would be on the way and also confirmed that it would be the final season.

Of course, loyal What’s on Netflix readers will know that Sweet Tooth season 3 has been coming for quite some time. We have been tracking developments on the show and posted in February 2023 that the show had received an early renewal citing numerous people with ties to the production.
Jim Mickle confirmed that seasons 2 and 3 had been filmed back-to-back in a Tweet after Netflix. officially announcing the news, saying: “I have been sitting on this news for a long time. For those wondering why it took so long to make season 2…it’s because we did TWO seasons in a row.»
In a statement issued by Netflix, Mickle said:
“In many ways, it’s exactly the story I envisioned we would tell, and in many ways it takes on a life of its own. Early on, I think you set out to tell these iconic pieces of Gus’s story and the great pieces of the comic, but the beauty of the long storytelling and Gus’s journey through 24 episodes is that the characters themselves tell you what they want. want to be. The crew and cast bring a lot of depth and point of view to who the characters are, where they come from, and where they’re going.»

First let’s dig into Official Netflix schedule for the show, which we sadly don’t have an accurate comparison to season 1 to see how much of a rise/drop there was. The only stat released for Season 1 was that 60 million homes seen within 28 days.

We can also confirm that the well-known Irish director Ciaran Foy will direct episodes 5 and 6 of season 3. The director is best known for his work on horror projects like The Haunting of Bly Manor, Eli, Citadeland the wild.
carol banker he will also join the directing team on season 3, directing episode 3. Banker has worked on dozens of television projects, including Gotham city, titans, legacies, the Wizards, and doom patrol.
Toa Fraser and jim mickle he will also direct again this season.

Along with the initial Season 3 announcement, Netflix confirmed four cast changes/additions:
- rosalinda bye (Better things, Mulan) as Zhang has been promoted to a series regular
- Amy Seimetz (no sudden movement, pet cemetery) as Birdie moved up to a series regular.
- Gee Face (The Expansion, The Call Of The Wild) joins as a new series regular.
- Ayazhan Dalabaeva as Nuka, he joins as a new series regular.

So far, we only know that season 3 will be an «Arctic story,» with showrunner Jim Mickle saying in a statement:
“Season 3 is an Arctic story with exciting new adventures and what we hope will be a satisfying conclusion to this epic story. Gus is going to see a side of the world and humanity that he didn’t see in season 1 or 2.»
That leads us to speculate on what we can expect from the upcoming third and final season:
Will Gus meet his mom?
At the end of the season, Gus, Jepperd, Becky, and Wendy have left Wyoming and are traveling to Alaska.
As the potential key to a cure for the sick, also known as the H5G9 virus, it is imperative to the rest of the human race that Gus can make it to Alaska and help his mother, Birdie, develop a cure.
Will Dr. Singh try to kidnap Gus?
Dr. Singh became so obsessed with his work that he repulsed his wife, Rani, who eventually left him in season 2 and destroyed his research.
Instead of trying to find his wife, Dr. Singh goes after Gus, determined to continue his research. There may be an opportunity for Dr. Singh to attack when his guard is down, but the chances will be slim.
Alternatively, if Dr. Singh finds out that Birdie is alive, he can throw her eggs in that basket and try to continue his research by helping her find a cure. However, if Birdie is alive, the chances of letting a man help her and have caused so much harm to her child are incredibly slim.

Is Birdie really alive?
The biggest question is whether or not Birdie is alive.
Considering we haven’t seen Birdie in person yet, there’s still no guarantee that she’s alive and well. A tragic twist of fate would be for Gus and her group to find out where she is supposed to live, only to discover that she is either dead or missing.
What’s in Zhang’s cage?
The creatures inside his cage are more than likely hybrids. In particular, hybrids that are partially predatory.
As the series has deviated from the comics, the creatures in the cage could be ‘The Dog Boys’, a group of cannibalistic dog-hybrid children who were cruelly bred to be nothing more than weapons.
If Zhang goes after Gus, expect him to bring his hungry hybrid pets to hunt them down.
