Former University of Kentucky swimmer Riley Gaines has criticized Nike’s decision to make transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney a paid spokesperson.
Gaines appeared on OutKick’s «The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show» and joked that Nike hadn’t made him an offer.
«And I don’t anticipate that happening. I don’t know if you can understand the mockery [Mulvaney’s deal] he does of women, especially the Dylan video, I guess he portrays what he thinks women look like when we exercise, jumping and doing different things. That is so incredibly demeaning, and for Nike to take this stance, they can forget about taking my money. And I’ve talked to a lot of female athletes who agree with exactly everything I just said.»

Gaines was recently «beaten multiple times by a guy in a dress» at San Francisco State University, saying «fake feminists» are «afraid» to act after the incident.
«Well, to be completely frank, people are scared because look what just happened to me for saying something as simple as men and women are different,» Gaines said. «That’s easy, right? That’s common sense, but I was still ambushed. Nobody wants that to happen to them, nobody wants to be labeled transphobic.»
He also said campus police were «terrified to do their job» as the protesters believed they were only protecting Gaines because she is white.
«To which they quite openly admitted that they didn’t want to be accused of being racist,» he said. «These officers were put in a position where they didn’t want to risk their jobs. They didn’t want to be seen as anything more than an ally to that community. And so, it hampered their performance.»
Gaines recently criticized athletes like Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird for siding with biological men who participate in women’s sports despite their work to put women’s sports in a positive light. In a series of tweets, he accused Rapinoe of «virtue signaling» and further attacked the pair with OutKick.
«Of course it’s ironic, but they want to be seen as inclusive, kind, tolerant, welcoming, loving and all those things, which of course, who doesn’t want to be seen as those things?» she said. «But, newsflash, it’s not inclusive to let men take the podium from a woman. It’s exclusive. And it’s not nice to allow a man equipped with male genitalia to change in a locker room with girls. That’s not nice. That’s not nice.» inclusive.»
Mulvaney recently partnered with Nike and Bud Light, both of which have received backlash, including from Caitlyn Jenner.
«As someone who grew up in awe of what Phil Knight did, it’s a shame to see such an iconic American company wake up so much! We can be inclusive, but not at the expense of the vast majority of people, and have some decency while to be inclusive. This is an outrage,» the 1976 Olympic gold medalist tweeted.

«EQUALITY > INCLUSIVENESS (STOP TRYING TO ERASE WOMEN). Differences between men and women are real and it’s a good thing! It doesn’t make trans people a bad thing either. Why is it so black and white with RADICAL RAINBOW ?MAFIA?!»
In a social media post Friday, Nike said they «welcome feedback that contributes to a positive and constructive discussion: Be kind… Be inclusive… Encourage each other… Hate speech, bullying or other behaviors that are not in the spirit of a diverse society and inclusive community will be eliminated.»
