Riley Gaines, a former NCAA standout swimmer at Kentucky, took issue with White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre’s response to transgender participation in women’s sports.
Jean-Pierre was asked what the White House would say to a father who was concerned about his daughter and her safety when it came to competing against a transgender girl in a field like high school sports.

Jean-Pierre responded to the reporter by saying that what he meant was that «transgender children are dangerous.» She called it a «dangerous thing to say» and rejected the so-called «broad» example she was given.
Gaines tweeted about the trade Tuesday night.
«When they say ‘inclusion’ I know they really mean exclusion,» she tweeted.

«The message this sends to ALL women is that our safety doesn’t matter. Neither does our privacy, our fairness, our equal opportunity or our dignity. Misogyny is slapping us in the face.»
Gaines has been among those leading the charge to keep transgender girls and women out of girls’ and women’s sports in the name of justice and equality.
Gaines was on Capitol Hill last month for House Republicans’ introduction of the Bill of Rights for Women legislation. During a press conference, she explained that the bill would define the word «woman» in federal law to reinforce other bills such as the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act recently passed by the House.
