Three-time Super Bowl champion Devin McCourty has announced his retirement from the NFL.
By posting a recorded Zoom with his twin brother and former teammate Jason on Instagram, he made it official.
«I will always look good in a Pats uniform, but I will no longer look good in a Pats uniform in the future. I am officially retiring from the NFL,» he said. «It’s been a great ride.»

McCourty said it’s «difficult to get to the end, as you know,» but for once in his life, he’s finally taking the time to look back on his successful career.
«This whole offseason has been a lot of back and forth for me mentally, I probably don’t even share a lot of the thoughts that I was going through from day to day.» he said. «But ultimately, I think this is the best decision for me and my family, for my career is to be able to look back at 13 years old and just enjoy myself. I have to tell Bill that, now I have the chance.» remember and look back and not have to focus on how I can be better next year. I can only say that I will never be better next year and just enjoy it, man.»

McCourty joked that he doesn’t have a new job waiting, and that he and his wife can’t spend any money after March 15, when he will be officially retired and «unemployed.»
Jason retired last year and has been involved with the Players Association ever since, something Devin hinted he would do.
«I’m excited for what’s to come. I never thought I’d be able to retire from the NFL. That’s all I’ve ever done, really, is play football and I’m excited to have another job. But all you’ve done to me You’ve proven that’s possible, so I’m excited to follow in your footsteps one more time and then be better than you. It should be one hell of a ride and I’m ready to go for it, man.»

McCourty won Super Bowls in 2015, 2017 and 2018 with the New England Patriots, spending all 13 of his NFL seasons in Foxboro.
He was the 27th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft and was a three-time second-team All-Pro.
