He boston bruins continued their impressive winning streak on Saturday night with a 3-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks, and while it seems nothing can stop the momentum of this leading NHL team, a game official briefly stopped one of the Bruins star players.

brad marchand has recorded a goal and/or assist in the last five games for the Bruins, and Saturday was no different.

He scored a goal to help Boston to its sixth straight victory, but the star winger suffered a minor trip late in the second period, and he was none of the usual suspects.

Fan favorite Wes McCauley, a veteran NHL referee and a former player, he apparently controlled Marchand near the backboards as he handled the puck with his head down.

The resulting «slam,» as some on social media have called it, sent Marchand to the ground with McCauley seemingly unmoved.

A wild night for the Bruins culminated in a goal into the empty net by Boston goaltender Linus Ullmark, who became the 13th goaltender in NHL history to score a goal.
