After having the benefit of knowing Tom Brady cemented himself at the starting quarterback position in recent seasons, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ quarterback room will certainly look different in 2023.

Head coach Todd Bowles told reporters that there will be an open competition between Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask for the starting quarterback job. However, OTAs may not have provided clarity on who will ultimately be under center in Week 1.

A viral video posted on Twitter showed a sequence of rather disappointing throws from quarterbacks during practice.

Bowles confirmed that Mayfield and Trask have been sharing first-team replays for the early part of the offseason.

BAKER MAYFIELD DOESN’T ‘REALLY CARE’ WHAT SKEPTICS THINK ABOUT THE BUCS’ CHANCES IN 2023

In video shared by a Tampa Bay-based sportswriter, both quarterbacks were seen throwing some cringe-worthy throws while splitting up replays.

Both quarterbacks certainly could have had a much better day throwing the ball during other periods of practice.

However, during the portion of practice that was open to the media, neither player showed off their best pitches.

A bad day at the office is certainly not indicative of how the season will pan out for the Bucs, but it certainly wasn’t an uplifting moment for Tampa Bay fans.

The good news is that it’s May and not September, so the team still has time to figure out its quarterback situation before the NFL season begins.

Some fans took to Twitter to mock Mayfield and Trask’s performances.

«Baker seems to be in regular season shape,» wrote one Twitter user along with a couple of laughing emojis.
