«Hello. This is Ted Sarandos, Co-CEO of Netflix. It is an honor to meet with Chairman Yoon today.

As President Yoon mentioned, Netflix is pleased to confirm that it will invest USD 2.5 billion in Korea, including the creation of Korean non-script series, movies and shows over the next four years. This investment plan is twice the total amount Netflix has invested in the Korean market since we started our service in Korea in 2016.

We were able to make this decision because we have great confidence that the Korean creative industry will continue to tell great stories. We were also inspired by the President’s love and strong support for the Korean entertainment industry and driving the Korean Wave. I would like to personally thank the President for his kind response to yours.

It’s amazing that the love for Korean shows has led to more interest in Korea, thanks to the compelling stories from Korean creators. Their stories are now at the heart of the global cultural spirit.

I have no doubt that our investment will strengthen our long-term partnership with Korea and the Korean creative ecosystem. We are deepening our partnership with the Korean creative industry, which has produced global hits like ‘Squid Game’, ‘The Glory’ and ‘Physical:100’. With the partnership, we will continue to grow with the local industry while sharing the joy of Korean storytelling entertainment with our fans around the world.

We would like to express our gratitude to the president and also to the Korean creative industry and our partners in Korea.
