The superhero genre is going anywhere soon on Netflix, and thanks to the success of Dark Horses The Umbrella Academy, Netflix is partnering with Rapman to develop Supacell, a new series about a group of black people with superpowers. Here’s Everything We Know About Netflix supacell.
The new six-part series will be written and directed by andres onwubolubetter known by his stage name rapper. His credits include blue story, shiro’s story short film trilogy, american son, and more. Rapman will also produce with Mouktar Mohammed and associate producer Henrietta Lee, both of New Wave.
The series is part of Netflix’s big push from its Netflix UK department. Anne Mensah, Netflix’s Vice President of UK Series, commented on this:

With over 30 million views, the hit YouTube series ‘Shiro’s Story’ directed the filmmaker @RealRapman to a deal with Jay Z’s Roc Nation.
Then his first film production, ‘Blue Story’, brought in £4.7m at the box office.
