Among our most anticipated upcoming animated features coming soon to Netflix is Thelma the Unicorn, the new feature film directed by Jared Hess that adapts the children’s book by Aaron Blabey.

That Thelma and the Unicorn about?
The film is an adaptation of the bestselling novel Thelma the Unicorn by the Australian author. Aaron Blabey which was first published in 2015 and had a following, The return of Thelma the Unicornreleased in 2019. Blabey is also known for his book series the bad boys (recently adapted by DreamWorks and streaming on Netflix in select regions) and pig the pug.
Of the film’s announcement, Blabey said:

mic animation is the main studio behind the animation of the film. Based in Quebec, Canada, they are behind titles like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and Paw Patrol: The Movie. They are currently also working on the production of tiger’s apprentice for Paramount and ozy.

Jared and Jerusha Hess They have adapted the book into a script. Jared is best known for working on master minds and the last man on earth while Jerusha has worked on dynamite napoleon and free nacho.
Jared Hess and Lynn Wang act as directors of the new feature film. Wang, prior to joining Netflix in 2020, worked at Warner Bros Animation and Nickelodeon Animation Studio with notable credits including serving as showrunner on unikitty! and co-creator in Space Mission: Danger.

Aaron Blabey and patrick hughes of Foundation Media Partners are executive producers of the project, with pam coats (Mulan, Scoob!) as producer.

As of early 2023, no cast member has been officially introduced for Thelma the Unicorn still.
We know that casting for the film took place during the second half of 2022, with an open casting call issued in September 2022 for the role of Suzie.
