Driver Akinori Ogata’s practice round did not go as planned on Friday.
The Japanese driver’s No. 46 Toyota caught fire while preparing for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
As Ogata headed into turn three, the truck began to emit smoke. A short time later, the truck was engulfed in flames.
Ogata was finally able to stop the truck while caution flags were flying at the track in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina.

Ogata was able to quickly get out of the truck after it stopped. He didn’t appear to have any major injuries.

Emergency services checked on Ogata and helped put out the flames.

Ogata’s team, G2G Racing, took to Twitter, writing that he had been «reviewed and cleared from Infield Care Center.»
The damaged truck was later towed off the road.

It’s unclear what sparked the fire, but one commenter theorized that «an oil line…must have broken or just come loose.»

Earlier this season, Ogata finished 17th at Atlanta Motor Speedway with G2G Racing.
