The sports world has embraced betting as several US states legalized the practice, raising questions about Pete Rose’s eligibility for the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Rose was barred from enshrinement in Cooperstown after it was revealed that he bet on games while player-manager of the Cincinnati Reds. He admitted as much in 2004, but with sports betting rampant in MLB stadiums, the possibility of reversing Rose’s ban has been up for debate.

The king of all-time hits got the endorsement of Hall of Famer Rod Carew.
«It has gone too far and is hypocritical,» Carew said in a tweet in response to the sports betting. «How can you keep Pete Rose out and have a sportsbook at Reds Stadium?»
The Reds are set to open an MGM sportsbook at the Great American Ballpark in 2023. Ohio legalized sports betting earlier in the year.
