A Division III college baseball player from Minnesota cut his team’s deficit to one run when he homered Monday and celebrated with one of the most outrageous bat tosses in recent memory.
Drake Siens, who plays for Gustavus Adolphus College, saw his home run go over the left-field fence, and as he moved to the right to round the bases, he tossed the bat toward his team’s dugout. St. Olaf College would lead by one run at that point in the third inning.

Siens’ bat toss would be the last thing he would do in the game. When he came around to third and touched home plate, the umpire ejected him. Gustavus Adolphus College manager Brad Baker also ended up getting thrown out after arguing with the referee.
The play-by-play announcer on the call called the toss of the bat «minor, to say the least.»

«It’s getting more common in this game, which is fine in my opinion. Let the kids have some fun if they want to celebrate with a bat toss,» the announcer added.
Siens hit two home runs in the doubleheader against St. Olaf College. The team split back to back and clinched a share of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season title.
Gustavus Adolphus College plays Bethel on Thursday in the first round of the playoffs.
