Throughout Major League Baseball, players wear pink bats and other gear, and the logos on their caps are pink in honor of Mother’s Day.
But a New York Mets rookie took the celebration a step further.
Brett Baty not only rocked head-to-toe pink, but he also wrote a heartfelt message for his mom on his team.

Baty wrote the sentiment in black marker on his shin guard straps in the first game of the Mets doubleheader.
«Mom, today is for YOU,» says the first sentence.
Baty wanted to «show you how much I love you» and added «what I am today is thanks to you.»
«Today we celebrate you. I love you!» Baty concluded the message.
The pink seen throughout the day is in honor of breast cancer awareness, an initiative that began in 2006.
It first started simply with bats, but has since spread to jerseys and other pieces of the pink sports uniform, and now letters to mom.
