LIV golfer Dustin Johnson didn’t have much time to enjoy his team’s accomplishments over the weekend at an event in Australia.

Shortly after Johnson’s team, the 4Aces, won the LIV team event at The Grange in Adelaide, Australia, the Australian Associated Press reported that the golfer made some critical comments about PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan.

«We don’t give a damn how you feel,» Johnson said, according to the Australian AP. «We know how he feels about us, so he’s mutual.»

Since its inception, LIV Golf has strived to generate a high level of interest among fans. But the Grange event in Adelaide sold out three days in a row.

The comments attributed to Johnson appear to be a reversal in the position he has taken in recent months. The 38-year-old coach has avoided speaking ill of the Tour or its leadership.

Johnson’s agent, David Winkle, issued a statement denying that the golfer made any statements about Monahan.

«I spoke to Dustin from Singapore this morning, at which point he emphatically denied making any such statement,» Winkle said. «He explained by saying that his actual response to the question was ‘no comment’.»

LIV spokeswoman Jane MacNeille took to Twitter to back Winkle’s statement about Johnson. MacNeille also clarified that Pat Perez, a Johnson teammate, made the comment.

«Dustin didn’t say it, Pat did. AAP reported it incorrectly,» MacNeille wrote.

There is no record of Perez’s comment in the interview transcript after the 4Aces round.

In the Netflix documentary «Full Swing,» Johnson laid out his reasons for leaving the Tour.

«The decision to join LIV, I mean, it ultimately came down to the offer that was made to me,» Johnson said. «For me, it was playing less and making more money. Pretty simple.»
