It seems that the fear of builders due to the macroeconomic situation began to be a reality after years with record numbers in home sales. This Wednesday, February 15, the monthly report of Coordenada Urbana revealed that in January home sales fell 50% compared to the same month of 2022an unprecedented year in terms of commercialization of housing units.

In the first month of the year 2023 the sale of 11,978 new homes was achieved and in the same month of the previous year, 23,934 were sold. This year, social interest housing should keep housing figures afloat, being 66% of sales. 399 units were sold daily in the country.

At the regional level, the volumes of housing marketed in the last twelve months stand out: Bogotá (53,070), Valle del Cauca (31,218), Cundinamarca (25,690) and Antioquia (25,077), as well as the positive annual variations: Cauca (27 .9%), Sucre (9.9%) and Magdalena (8.3%).

Similarly, the generation of new housing between February 2022 and January 2023 was led by Bogotá (48,240) and Valle del Cauca (27,593), with notable positive variations in departments such as Cauca (64.6%), Meta (46 .5%) and Sucre (44.4%). For these three sectors, On average, 80% of the offer that was launched for sale was social housing.

On initiations, the figures also fall. According to the report, in January of this year 12,920 homes were started, 28% less than in 2022when initiations reported to be 17,958.
