Former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer faced new sexual assault allegations Tuesday over an encounter with an Arizona woman in 2020. The former Cy Young Award winner denied the allegations and filed a countersuit against the woman.
The allegations surfaced in a report in USA Today. The woman claimed Bauer raped and impregnated her and held a serrated steak knife to her throat. The woman, who initially filed her lawsuit against Bauer in December, is the fourth to file the claim against the current Japanese baseball star.

The woman is seeking $3.7 million in damages and an «apology to any woman the defendant humiliated and sexually abused against her consent,» according to the report.
Bauer’s attorneys said the pitcher had a one-time, consensual encounter with the woman in December 2020 when the condom broke during sex. Bauer’s counterclaim said the woman claimed she was pregnant and that she demanded $1.6 million to terminate the pregnancy and that the pitcher made an «audio recording» of the request.
The counterclaim said Bauer refused to pay and would support the woman if she ended up having the baby. He reportedly paid nearly $9,000 for the «alleged pregnancy and its subsequent termination.»

«Based on (the woman’s) demand letter and the failure to provide any medical records to substantiate her pregnancy or its termination, Mr. Bauer now believes that (the woman) fabricated her pregnancy to try to extort him for money,» the counterclaim says. via USA Today.
The woman’s allegations include an incident in which she says Bauer held a serrated steak knife to her throat and strangled her with her braids and beat her during an alleged sexual encounter while claiming she was pregnant.
The most recent allegations come as Bauer launches abroad in Japan. MLB suspended Bauer last year for violating the league’s domestic violence and sexual assault policy after a California woman claimed she was assaulted during encounters with Bauer. However, an arbitrator reduced the two-year suspension to just 194 games.
Bauer was never charged with any crime and denied the claims the California woman made.
