A Europa League match between PSV of the Netherlands and Sevilla FC of Spain turned into a boxing match on Thursday night.
A spectator ran onto the pitch during the match and approached Sevilla FC goalkeeper Marko Dmitrović, and it did not end well.
The fan punched Dmitrović before the goalkeeper decided to return the favor.

Dmitrović’s punch hurled the fan onto the pitch before security and the players began to mill.
The fan tried to free himself from Dmitrović, but the goalkeeper did not let go before security arrived and forced the fan off the pitch.

It was not the first time that a fan jumped over barriers to reach a player. Sometimes they are rabid fans who just want to have a moment with their favorite players. Dmitrović’s interaction with this fan is not an isolated incident.
Daniel Cataño of Millionaires of Columbia in Category Primera A had a fan run onto the field to hit him earlier this month. Cataño was not looking when the fan hit him from behind. Like Dmitrović, he fought back.

Cataño ran after the fan, who ran in the opposite direction after the attack. Cataño threw the fan to the ground until players and security joined to separate them.

The referees of the match between Millonarios and Deportes Tolima gave Cataño a red card which disqualified him from the game. Millionaires boycotted the game, creating more controversy.
Dmitrović continued to play in their match, which PSV won after Luuk de Jong and Fabio Silva scored in the second half for a 2–0 win. Sevilla FC advance to the round of 16 with an aggregate advantage of 3-2.
