ecopetrol exported his first shipment of asphalt destined for Chilea milestone that consolidates the company as a supplier in the products and petrochemicals segment, a market with great growth potential in the coming years.

The sale was a shipment of 12,000 tons of asphalt produced in the barrancabermeja refinerywhich was delivered directly by Ecopetrol in the ports of Ventanas and Mejillones.

«The stability in the quality of the asphalt produced in Ecopetrol, the positioning that has been achieved in the region, added to the possibility of making direct deliveries, ha ha
allowed Ecopetrol to enter new markets
and position the company as one of the main asphalt suppliers in the Americas”, stated the president of Ecopetrol, Ricardo Roa.

Ecopetrol has exported asphalt destined for Europe, Africa and the Americaswhere sales to the United States, the Caribbean and Central America stand out especially.

In the first quarter of 2023, the company exported 51,000 tons of asphaltwhich represented an increase close to 26 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, when 40,000 tons were sold abroad.

At the end of this year, the company estimates that the supply of this product, both for the
domestic and international market will increase at least 20 percent compared to 2022when approximately 190,000 tons of asphalt are exported.
