Dallas United withdrew from the Soccer Tournament (TST) in Cary, North Carolina, after West Ham United FC alleged that a Dallas United player used a racial slur in a 7-on-7 match on Thursday.

The West Ham team walked off the pitch after a long delay near the end of regulation time with Dallas leading 2-0.

TST announced the suspension of the match while investigating «allegations of use or intent to use a racial slur.»

A few hours after suspending the match, TST announced that dallas united he would no longer compete in the tournament.

«After conducting an investigation into the final moments of the match between West Ham United and Dallas United, we have concluded that Dallas United breached TST’s code of conduct,» TST posted on Twitter. “We have been in dialogue with the leaders of both clubs and we are all aligned that the best way forward is for Dallas United to withdraw from the competition. All parties involved are united in wanting to make a statement against racial insensitivity.

«We are looking to run an event that is not only very risky for all the competitors, but also one where all the competitors feel safe and secure.»

Dallas United issued a statement saying the team unanimously decided to withdraw from the tournament.

«In the light of the shadow cast by a accusation of the opposing player during tonight’s game, the Dallas United players unanimously decided to withdraw from the remainder of the competition,» the statement said.

«Our coaches and staff fully support the team’s decision.»

Friday’s game between Far East United and Dallas United has been cancelled.

Former professional Anton Ferdinand made the accusation, according to ESPN, although it is unclear which Dallas United player was accused of using a racial slur.

Dallas United is comprised primarily of amateur players from the Dallas area, according to the ESPN report.
