As players warmed up for a Super League rugby match between the Catalans Dragons and the St Helens Saints, a bull managed to break loose and storm the pitch on Friday.

The rampaging bull prompted the players to run quickly and seek safety inside the Stade Gilbert Brutus in Perpignan, France.

social media Videos showed the bull dragging a man before charging around the field.

Some players were forced to jump over billboards and into the crowd to escape the path of the bull.

Handlers were finally able to control the bull after it slowed down.

No injuries were reported, according to British media.

Before kick-off, the Catalans issued a statement saying three bulls and two cows would take a walk around the pitch while the players warmed up as part of a program honoring local cattle.

The event was a partnership with a local meat processing plant. The president of the Catalans, Bernard Guasch, is the owner of the plant.

The Catalans Dragons defeated the St Helens Saints 24-12. The Dragons are ranked #4 in the Super League with a 7-0-4 record.
