Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase adds fuel to Chiefs rivalry with Joe Burrow-Patrick Mahomes comment

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase decided to add more fuel to the team’s rivalry with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Speaking at the team’s mandatory minicamp on Wednesday, Chase was asked by a reporter about the best player in the NFL. While many believe Chiefs signal caller Patrick Mahomes is at the top of the list, he disagrees.

«Joe Burrow,» Chase said. «Everybody knows that. That’s easy. MVP.»

Of course, Burrow wasn’t the one who was named MVP last season. It was Mahomes after he passed for 5,250 yards with 41 touchdowns on 12 interceptions and a 67.1% completion rate.

But Chase decided to throw some shade at Mahomes after someone said «Pat» when he was trying to combat his Burrow comment.

This comes after Burrow said that Mahomes is the best quarterback in the league: «I don’t think there’s a discussion.»

However, Chase doesn’t care, as he has his quarterback above the rest, which shows how much he believes in his potential.

It’s no secret that the Bengals and Chiefs have a rivalry in the making after meeting in the AFC Championship Game the past two seasons.

Even in the regular season, Burrow and the Bengals had owned the Chiefs, a perennial Super Bowl contender, until Mahomes was able to defeat them last season in the AFC Championship Game to advance to Super Bowl LVII, where they ended up taking over. of the Philadelphia Eagles to win another Vince Lombardi trophy.

That obviously fell through with the Chiefs’ home win, though, and tight end Travis Kelce made sure to bark at the Bengals in his postgame press as he often does.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs own two Lombardi trophies since 2019. So while Chase thinks Burrow is the league MVP right now, Mahomes has the hardware to prove it.
