A Houston Astros announcer made a subtle dig at Toronto Blue Jays reliever Anthony Bass during Monday night’s game following the social media storm Bass created by venting his frustrations over an incident on a United Airlines flight involving his pregnant wife and two young children.

Bass, who had a brief stint with the planets in 2014, he took to Twitter on Sunday to share his dismay that a flight attendant had his wife, Sydney Rae Bass, pick up popcorn from the floor under their youngest daughter’s seat.

«The @united flight attendant just made my 22 week pregnant wife traveling with a 5 and 2 year old get on her knees to pick up my youngest daughter’s popcorn mess. Are you kidding?!? !»

The tweet went viral with mixed reactions.

However, the next day, Astros announcer Geoff Blum apparently entered the conversation with a subtle hint at Bass.

With the Blue Jays trailing 8-1, the comment wasn’t unusual for a relief pitcher, but the controversy surrounding Bass made it seem like something else.

Bass responded to some of the criticism she received on social media in response to her tweet, later trolling haters with an image of her daughter holding a bag of popcorn.
