First announced in 2020, Arnold Schwarzenegger will star in his first scripted TV series FUBAR, a sequel to the 1994 film True Lies. Coming to Netflix in May 2023, this is all we know so far about FUBAR.
As reported by Deadline, the competition was strong for the project, but ultimately Netflix won the bidding war. The news is incredibly exciting as Schwarzenegger has had very little television experience and has never starred in a major role on a series. For more than five decades, the Austrian herculean has starred in dozens of movies, but his first steps toward a major TV role will be on Netflix.
Schwarzenegger’s casting as the series’ lead continues his relationship with Skydance, as he previously reprized his role as the T-800 in Terminator: Genesis and Terminator: Dark Fate.
8 episodes will make up the first season.

We have also learned that paul abraham is on board to direct episodes in the new series. The multiple Emmy Award-winning and nominated director has been involved in projects like mad Men, The sopranos, breaking bad, Sons of Anarchy, and The Walking Dead.

What is the plot of FUBAR?
The series is based on True Lies, the 1994 action/comedy film in which Arnold Schwarzenegger appeared alongside Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Arnold, Bill Paxton, Art Malik, and Tia Carrere. The series is described as a «global spy adventure».
A father and daughter have been working as CIA agents for years, but each kept their involvement in the CIA hidden from the other, resulting in their entire relationship being one gigantic lie. Learning of each other’s involvement in the CIA, the pair are forced to work together as partners, and against the backdrop of explosive action and espionage, they learn who they really are.

Who are the cast members of FUBAR?
Announced very early, we still only have Arnold Schwarzenegger and actress Monica Barbaro as the only two cast members. The couple will portray a father-daughter dynamic.

Schwarzenegger, best known for his roles in the terminator, Conan and Predator, He will play Luke Brunner, who is described as a strong, gruff and lovable curmudgeon.
Speaking at the Arnold Sports Festival, Schwarzenegger he said on the news that he would soon be flying to Vancouver and filming his first scripted series: «I’m always interested in doing different things.»
Barbaro is flying high right now after his role in Top Gun: Maverick. She will play the role of Emma in this Netflix series and will be described as the «oldest and most perfect daughter». The actress will also appear in the upcoming animated prequel. Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas.

In another part of the cast, we will see milan carter like Barry, who has worked as a CIA officer alongside Brunner for 20 years. Fortune Feimster will play Roo, another CIA officer. gabriel luna will play Boro, the main villain of season 1.

What is the production status of FUBAR?
Thanks to ProductionWeekly, we know that as of January 2022, the series entered pre-production. Pre-production is scheduled to end in early May.
Filming will then take place in Toronto, Canada. According to production listings seen by What’s on Netflix, it is scheduled to begin filming on May 2, 2022 and was originally scheduled to run until August 25, 2022.

Filming concluded at the end of September 2022 and on September 26, Fortune Feimster publishedsaying:
«That’s a wrap! I spent the last 5 months in Toronto filming this great and fun action show, Fubar, with one of the best, Arnold Schwarzenegger. We had one of the best crews I’ve ever worked with. Amazing experience at overall and I can’t wait for people to see it on Netflix.»
