«I think a couple of things are worrisome,» Saban said in August. «We allow alumni through collectives to be involved in recruiting and other things. That’s something we’ve always guarded against in college football. I think what kind of competitive balance can we create if we allow that to happen, that It’s not going to be great for the fans.
«The best competitive balance you can have is like in the NFL. They have rules to create a competitive balance. Whether it’s the salary cap, the difficulty of the schedule, where you pick, where you pick relative to your win-loss record. Those things They are important. I think in the interest of creating many good matches at the national level.»
