Earlier this week, Aaron Rodgers announced his plans to go on an «isolation retreat» where he will be alone in a dark room for four days.

Rodgers said his friends have had «profound experiences» on those trips, but clearly, it’s not for everyone.

The news of Rodgers’ retirement has generated some wild opinions, but one former All-Pro linebacker wants no part of it.

When told that his only human contact would be when someone gave him food, Shawne Merriman made a rough comparison.

«Sounds like jail to me,» he said. sports.

Despite comparing it to prison, though, the former San Diego Chargers star isn’t judging.

«I don’t know how someone goes and finds themselves. You have to go to a dark room for four days, go to the dark room. Go do it six [days]. … Know yourself,” he added.

Merriman made the sentiment while out to lunch with former linebacker Lavar Arrington, who also says Rodgers can do whatever he wants to find himself.

«Everyone has their own journeys in life. I’m not one to judge someone on what their journey of enlightenment and self-understanding is,» Arrington said.

«I think it’s going to be important to get through this week and then take my isolation retreat and just be able to contemplate,» Rodgers said of the retreat he can come out of whenever he wants. «All things, my future, and then making a decision that I feel is best for me and in the best interest of my happiness.»

Rodgers may be contemplating his future in the NFL, and it appears that the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets are the two favorites to land it.

If he retires, he will lose about $100 million owed to him over the next two seasons.
