A 10-year-old girl was spat at by a Los Angeles Kings fan while wearing an Edmonton Oilers jersey at the teams’ playoff matchup in Southern California, Edmonton winger Evander Kane says.
Cecily Eklund, who was diagnosed with brain cancer at age six, attended Game 3 on Friday at Crypto.com Arena as a guest of Kane and the Ben Stelter Fund, having developed a friendship with Kane since his treatment.
However, at least one Kings fan subjected her to «disgusting and completely unacceptable» behavior, Kane claimed.

«My dear friend [Cecily] Last week I had an amazing trip to Los Angeles that created some incredibly fun memories. But some of his experience in Los Angeles, specifically in Game 3 of the game, was not. I am disgusted and horrified by what happened to this amazing girl in the stands and in a women’s bathroom where she was harassed for wearing her jersey and spat at by a LA fan for doing so,» Kane wrote on Instagram, via through the post. Daily Hive.»This kind of behavior is disgusting and completely unacceptable. For any girl, especially someone battling cancer, to be treated like that is pathetic. Grow up and as this smart young lady always says, BE KIND!»
A user named Chrissy Arvanitis, whose page has since been deactivated, responded to Kane’s story by saying that Kane «does[s] Let’s spit on the kids for being dirty sons of bitches.»
If there’s a silver lining to the harsh allegations, a large section of Kings fans have made up for someone else’s wrongdoing by donating thousands of dollars to Eklund’s charity.

Kings fan Zach Lyttle shared the page on his Twitter account and urged others to donate.
«Hello Kings Twitter this amazing amazing hockey fan name is Cecily and she has cancer. Here is her donation page. Let’s show her what real Kings fans look like.» he wrote.
The 10-year-old boy also seems to be in a very good mood.
«Watching hockey in Los Angeles is very different than watching hockey in Canada. Edmonton fans are very different. I think if we can choose to be anything, we should choose to be kind,» he wrote on his Instagram page early Tuesday.
