«Dr. Meister performed an internal repair on Purdy’s right elbow. Purdy is anticipated to begin a pitching progression program in three months.»
The news comes several weeks after Purdy’s initial surgery. postponed due to swelling in his elbow.
While Purdy may start pitching in three months, the expectation is that the timeline for a full recovery is around six months.

Dr. David Altchek, an assistant orthopedic surgeon and co-director emeritus of the Hospital for Special Surgery Sports Medicine Institute in New York, told Fox News Digital last month that an internal brace was a «good» option for Purdy.
«It’ll work out and he’ll be able to come back. I don’t think six months is out of the question. I really don’t think so,» he said at the time.

Purdy took over the 49ers center in Week 13 after Jimmy Garoppolo he broke his foot against the Miami Dolphins.
With Purdy starting, the 49ers finished 7-0 going into the NFC Championship Game.
